Nature Notice
This week’s teachers weren’t found in a book…
They were a mother doe and her fawn.
Yesterday, I had the privilege of watching them together.
The doe moved quietly through the woods, grazing, watching, and caring for her surroundings.
The fawn stayed exactly where its mother had left it.
It didn’t wander.
It didn’t cry out.
It didn’t anxiously follow her every move.
It simply waited.
Patiently.
Quietly.
Trusting that she would return.
As I stood there watching, I couldn’t help but wonder…
When did waiting become so uncomfortable for us?
We live in a world that celebrates constant movement.
If we’re not making progress, producing something, or chasing the next goal, we often feel like we’re falling behind.
But nature reminds us that not every season asks us to move.
Some seasons ask us to trust.
The little fawn wasn’t wasting time.
It wasn’t missing out.
It wasn’t stuck.
It was exactly where it needed to be.
There was a quiet confidence in its stillness.
Not because it could see what its mother was doing…
But because it trusted the one who was watching over it.
What if we approached some seasons of our lives with that same quiet confidence?
Not passive.
Not giving up.
But trusting that growth can happen in the waiting just as much as it happens in the moving.
Reflection
Where in your life are you being invited to practice patience instead of rushing?
What might change if you trusted that not every season requires you to have all the answers?
Nature Notice
Nature has something to teach us today.
The question is…
Are we paying attention?
