Nature Notice: Loud and Proud
Nature Notice
This week, nature introduced me to some of the smallest, yet most confident, teachers in my yard…
The chipmunks.
Every morning they chatter.
They call and talk to one another.
They announce when they’ve found food.
They warn each other when something changes.
Sometimes they simply seem to enjoy being heard.
If I step too close, they’re quick to let me know I’ve entered their space.
They don’t apologize for using their voices.
They don’t wonder if they’re being too much.
They don’t stay silent out of fear that someone might not approve.
They simply communicate.
And perhaps that’s exactly what they were reminding me.
How many of us have spent years making ourselves smaller?
Holding back our thoughts.
Swallowing our words.
Quieting our gifts.
Waiting until the timing is perfect…
Or until we feel confident enough.
Nature doesn’t seem to ask permission to be itself.
The birds sing.
The wind moves through the trees.
The creek continues to flow.
And the chipmunks chatter without hesitation.
Maybe using our voice isn’t about being the loudest in the room.
Maybe it’s about being authentic enough to let ourselves be heard.
Nature Notice
What part of yourself has been waiting for permission to speak?
Perhaps this week, nature is gently reminding you…
Your voice belongs here.
